Menzerna 3 in 1 Review: Real Life Test & Review

Menzerna 3 in 1 is a polish capable of correcting, refining, and protecting paint in one single application.

Using a dual action polisher, users can remove swirl marks, marring and other imperfections while simultaneously refining the paint to a high gloss and leaving behind a layer of protection.

I tested Menzerna 3 in 1 in real-world conditions to help see if it is good product and to help you choose if it is right for you. Read on to hear how it performs.

While I personally like the flexibility of applying my own wax or sealant, using Menzerna 3 in 1 is perfect for those in a hurry. It would work brilliantly for car dealers, or for beginners in detailing.

Testing process

I tested Menzerna 3 in 1using a Vertool Forced Rotation polisher with a medium cut Menzerna foam pad.

I usually test polishes on a scrap bonnet to geta great side-by-side photo, but as this is a protective product, I opted to polish a panel on my own car instead of a customer’s car so I could monitor the durability.

The first step was wasing the car and using Meguiar’s Wash Plus to remove any previous waxes that were on the panel.

Once the car was clean I primed the polishing pad with the product to reduce the risk of hazing before applying several drops of polish the size of a 5p.

I first spread the polish on a low speed before increasing the speed of the machine. After 4 passes I bumped the machine up to full speed and made a final pass using very little pressure. I immediately wiped the polish away with a microfibre towel.

Test Results

Finish achieved (9.5/10)

I noticed a great improvement in the appearance of the paint, which previously had visible swirl marks.

There were a few deeper marks that were not removed; however, this was to be expected, 3 in 1 is not intended to be used as a heavy cut compound. The polish left an even finish and light reflected off the paint nicely.

Residue (8.5/10)

When I was using this product, I was not aware of any fling while polishing. The residue was also very easy to remove.

If the residue is difficult to remove, I would suggest working the product for a bit longer, which will make removal easier. Avoid application in warm direct sunlight, as this can also make residue more difficult to remove.

How is this polish best used?

This polish can be used by itself as part of a single-stage refinement. This would be suitable if light swirls and marring is present.

It could also be used to refine work done by a heavy cut compound to bring a deep gloss and protection. I used this polish with a medium cut polish, but if I were refining paint, I would probably use a soft foam finishing pad.

What needs to follow this polish?

No additional products will be needed after using Menzerna 3 in 1. Applying extra layers of wax is pointless as there is already a layer of protection from 3 in 1. Menzerna Endless Shine is a quick detailer that is compatible with 3 in 1 to prolong the protective qualities.

Value for money (8.0/10)

Menzerna 3 in 1 is sold in 250 ml and 1 litre bottles, which normally retail for £10.00 ($11.37 USD) and £30.00 ($34.12 USD) respectively. I measured how much polish I used to correct one section roughly 40 cm x 40 cm, which was about 7 g.

I had added slightly more in the photo below to prime the pad. Based on a medium size car, I estimate you would need up to 175 g of product. The density of 3 in 1 is 1 kg/litre, so this equates to 175 ml. This amount of polish will cost £7.00 ($7.96 USD) from a small bottle, and £5.25 ($5.97 USD) if a larger bottle is bought.

Level of Cut (5.0/10)

When doing polish reviews, I normally take depth measurements before and after to determine how much clearcoat has been removed.

With an all in one like 3 in 1, this is not possible because a layer of wax is added which would skewer the results. 3 in 1 is rated as having a cut rating of 5/10, which is the same as Menzerna 2500.

When I tested 2500, I noted it removed around 3 micrometres from the surface of the paint, which is a helpful benchmark to compare 3 in 1 with. 3 in 1 can also be used to remove sanding marks up to 3000 grit.

Hydrophobicity (7.5/10)

Menzerna 3 in 1 gives good beading and sheeting, however water does take longer to sheet off the paint than with other products.

Durability (6.5/10)

I have used Menzerna 3 in 1 in the past and noticed approximately two months of durability. For this test I’ll provide regular updates to the performance below:

Results

The results from using 3 in 1 were very impressive. It was able to improve the appearance of the paint significantly with ease, the hydrophobic qualities were also very impressive. The photos below show just how much improvement was brought about by a single polishing set using a medium pad.

Final thoughts

As I mentioned, all in one products are something I tend to stay clear off, as I like to be able to apply my own wax or sealant.

With that said, Menzerna 3 in 1 is an excellent product in its own right, many people would find uses for it. For time pressed enthusiasts, this will speed the paint correction up significantly, removing the need to apply a wax after polishing.

For those in the motor trade this polish seems like a no-brainer. It yields impressive results considering how easy it is to apply and is a cost-effective product to begin with.
